Privacy Policy
Kip learns your preferences so it can help you. Here’s what that involves, what we store, and the choices you have.
About this policy
This policy explains how the team behind Kip (“we” or “us”) handles personal information when you use kipchats.com, the portal, and Kip on messaging channels. For privacy questions or requests, contact georgina@kipchats.com.
Information we handle
- Account information: your name, email address, profile picture when provided by your sign-in provider, verified phone number, invitation information, and account settings.
- Messages and content: conversations with Kip, files and images you share, audio you send for processing, links, saved items, plans, reminders, and preferences or rules you ask Kip to remember.
- Connected services: information permitted by the accounts you connect, which may include email content and attachments, calendar events, and information needed to perform the tasks you request. Basic Google sign-in is separate from connecting an inbox or calendar.
- Technical information: session identifiers, connection records, request and delivery logs, device and browser information, and website usage and performance data.
We store hashed verification codes rather than the original codes. Messaging providers still need the code itself to deliver the verification message to you.
How we use information
We use information to identify you, protect your account, respond to messages, remember preferences, retrieve saved items, organize plans, deliver reminders, and perform the tasks you authorize. We also use operational information to investigate failures, prevent abuse, and improve the service.
“Learning by texting” includes storing preferences and context for your account and using them in later responses. It does not mean that each conversation trains a new AI model. Relevant messages and context may be sent to AI providers to generate a response or complete a task.
Where applicable privacy law requires a legal basis, we process information to provide the service you request, with your consent for optional connections, for legitimate interests such as security and reliability, or to meet legal obligations. You can withdraw consent for optional processing without affecting processing already carried out.
Google and other connections
You choose whether to connect email, calendar, or other services. Kip uses Composio to facilitate supported connections and may use provider-issued credentials to carry out enabled features. The consent screen describes the permissions requested.
Google account data is used to provide the user-facing features you enable, such as finding an email, summarizing information, retrieving an attachment, or managing calendar events. We do not use it for advertising or to train our own general-purpose AI models. Our use and transfer of information received from Google APIs is subject to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including its Limited Use requirements.
You can disconnect accounts in the portal and revoke Google access in your Google account connections. Disconnecting prevents further use of that connection; it does not automatically erase previously saved items or conversation history. Contact us if you also want those removed.
Storage and deletion
We retain account information, conversation history, saved items, and preferences as needed to operate your account and provide continuity. Retention depends on the information, the feature, and operational or legal requirements; disconnecting an integration alone does not delete your Kip account.
To request account deletion or removal of personal information, email georgina@kipchats.com from your account email address. We may need to verify your identity before acting. Some records may be retained when required for legal obligations, security, or resolving disputes, and backup copies may remain until their normal deletion cycle.
Our providers may process information outside your country. Applicable protections depend on the provider and location. We use access controls and authentication to protect information, but no service can guarantee absolute security.
Your choices
You can edit supported preferences and rules in the portal, manage connected services, and control the reminders and tasks you request. For SMS, reply STOP to stop messages; doing so can also block verification texts and requested reminders.
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or receive a copy of your personal information, object to or restrict certain processing, and withdraw consent. Contact georgina@kipchats.com to exercise these rights. You may also complain to your local data protection authority.
Cookies and website analytics
The website uses cookies or browser storage for sign-in, sessions, and language preferences. It also uses Vercel Analytics and Speed Insights to understand website usage and performance. Your browser lets you manage cookies and local storage; blocking essential storage may prevent sign-in from working.
Children and policy updates
Kip is not directed to children under 13. If you believe a child has provided personal information, contact us so we can investigate and address it.
We may update this policy as Kip changes. The date above identifies the latest version. We will provide additional notice of significant changes where required.
